Kentucky artist Jannette Parent will share her vibrant Native American artwork at Muhlenberg Public Library’s Thistle Cottage on Thursday, June 4, coinciding with an open house reception for her art exhibit. The discussion itself will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. Jannette will speak about her journey of studying the Cherokee language—how it has become an inseparable part of her life and how it continues to shape her art.
Through stories, songs and dreams, she has created more than 95 paintings that honor and preserve this ancient language. During this special presentation, Jannette will discuss the inspiration behind her work and the cultural significance of the Cherokee language.
Join us for an evening of discussion, learning and discovery! Meet the artist, view her work and experience how Jannette’s artistic vision brings to life the stories, culture, and history of her ancestors by working to preserve the remarkable Cherokee language.
Light refreshments will be provided.
The artwork will remain on display throughout the month of June. Even if you cannot join us for the presentation, stop by any time during regular business hours to view the beautiful artwork, read about the artist's inspirations and maybe even learn a bit of the language!
