Join us for an elegant, fun tea party featuring a variety of appetizers and teas to sample, as well as a hat contest!

Attention, Dearest Gentle Readers ... it's time for our annual Spring Tea at Thistle Cottage! This is one of our community's most-anticipated events each year, and we can't wait to host everyone here for this year's celebration!

This annual event features an assortment of small appetizers and desserts as well as a variety of teas, all served in the elegant, historic setting of Thistle Cottage. We'll also again be coordinating our popular best hat contest, so make sure you wear your favorite headgear to the event. 😃 The judge's favorite gets a prize!

We've been inspired by the Regency era for this year's theme. Period apparel is not required, but feel free to dress up in your finest attire from any era you prefer!

This event is geared toward adults, but teens and well-behaved children of an appropriate age may also attend.

Seats are limited for this event and have sold out VERY quickly -- in a matter of minutes -- in past years, so we cannot emphasize this enough: please reserve your tickets as soon as possible if you plan to attend! Ticket reservations begin at 9 a.m. on April 20. However, we do understand that prospective attendees' schedules vary and some may not be able to visit or access our reservation systems at this time, so we will be releasing a second, smaller batch of tickets at 1:30 p.m. If you are unable to reserve tickets at 9 a.m., we encourage you to try when this second batch of tickets is released.

The best way to ensure you get the tickets you desire is to be at Thistle Cottage when reservations open at 9 a.m., but if this is not possible, tickets may be reserved by phone at 270-338-4760 ext. 3 or 4. Please note that if these lines are busy, your call may be forwarded to another library location's phone line. However, it does take a bit of time to move through the system and be rerouted to Thistle Cottage, so we recommend hanging up and dialing again if your call is not answered within 3 rings.

A limited number of tickets is also available to be reserved online through the link on this page if you are unable to utilize the previously mentioned methods.

Due to the high demand for this program, we require payment in advance. Tickets reserved online or by phone must be paid for within 24 hours or tickets will be released for other prospective attendees. We accept payment by cash, card (in person or via secure link sent by email/text) or check.

A valid phone number is required for all ticket reservations. Failing to provide this information may result in your registration being canceled. We will also need the full name of each guest attending so we can prepare place cards.

Call us at Thistle Cottage (270-338-4760) if you have any questions! We look forward to hearing from you on April 20 to save your seats and seeing you on May 9 for this special yearly event!

*Please note that our tables seat 6 individuals and will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. We will make every effort to keep your group together, but in some rare instances, especially as tickets become more limited and tables begin to fill up, this may be impossible. If this becomes necessary, we will contact you at the phone number given to notify you of this situation and discuss options.

Large groups (more than 6 people) are discouraged due to table size limitations -- larger groups must be split across two tables. There is a limit of 6 tickets per reservation, so if you are attending as part of a larger group, another party member will need to make an additional reservation for the remainder of the party. You can add a note to your reservation(s) that you are attending as part of a larger group so we can plan seating accordingly. Staff will attempt to seat party members as near each other as possible, but we cannot guarantee adjacent tables/seating.

About the branch

Thistle Cottage is a historic home located in downtown Greenville. The building includes a museum dedicated to local history on its upper level, as well as a gallery that features rotating exhibits throughout the year. The lower level houses our history and genealogy archives and research collection, including public records and vital statistics; past issues of local newspapers; files of information on community events, organizations and families; and much more. The facility also offers access to online resources with a dedicated public access computer and Wi-Fi.
A portion of the museum level is also available to rent for smaller events.
