Thistle CottageJoin us for a holiday celebration at Thistle Cottage! Visit Santa, view fun holiday decor, and enjoy crafts and refreshments. New this year: check out the Gumdrops on Rooftops gingerbread creations!
Join us at Thistle Cottage on Nov. 28 to kick off the winter holiday season at our annual Holiday Open House!
We've been in touch with a certain jolly old elf in a red suit 🎅, and yes ... he's generously added us to his busy schedule again this year! Santa Claus will be here at Thistle Cottage during the open house, ready to hear your wishlists and pose for pictures in our beautiful historic house setting. Each visitor will have the opportunity to sit down with Santa, if desired, for a moment of conversation and a photo (taken with your own device). He told us he's very excited to see everyone again this year!
And, of course, don't forget about our Jubilee of Trees! We'll have lots of beautiful trees decorated for the holidays by various community organizations and businesses. Check those out and vote for your favorite while you're here! (P.S. You may even win a prize just by submitting a vote! 😉)
We'll also have small kids' crafts and refreshments available to enjoy while you wait. AND, new this year: Muhlenberg County Tourism's Gumdrops on Rooftops contest entries will be on display at Thistle Cottage during the open house! Make sure you come check out the amazing gingerbread creations submitted by local bakers/builders.
This is a free event, and everyone is welcome. Don't forget your camera -- with Santa's visit, the fantastic decorated trees in the Jubilee of Trees, Gumdrops on Rooftops, and the home itself, opportunities for fun and beautiful holiday photos abound!
We hope everyone will join us for this fun annual event. We can't wait to celebrate the holidays and welcome the winter season with you!
This is Santa's only scheduled visit to Thistle Cottage for the year. However, the Jubilee of Trees will be open for viewing (and voting) during regular business hours Nov. 30-Dec. 30.
Please call us at 270-338-4760 if you have any questions about the Jubilee of Trees, Pictures with Santa or the Holiday Open House.
This is a non-religious activity. Everyone, regardless of faith, creed or background, is welcome to participate by decorating a tree with your business/organization and/or visiting to enjoy the display and activities at the Holiday Open House.

Thistle Cottage
Thistle Cottage is a historic home located in downtown Greenville. The building includes a museum dedicated to local history on its upper level, as well as a gallery that features rotating exhibits throughout the year. The lower level houses our history and genealogy archives and research collection, including public records and vital statistics; past issues of local newspapers; files of information on community events, organizations and families; and much more. The facility also offers access to online resources with a dedicated public access computer and Wi-Fi.
A portion of the museum level is also available to rent for smaller events.
